The number of options in the rapidly growing smartphone market has increased considerably day by day. Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, Huawei, and many more are working hard to get a larger share of the pie, and every day they introduce a new model for users to enjoy. So, setting aside their designs and technical specifications, which are the hardest and easiest smartphones to repair in the world? Here are the details!

And the most repair-friendly smartphone brand is…

According to a study by Electronics Hub, Samsung surpassed Apple with a significant margin in 2022 to become the most repair-friendly smartphone brand. The study in question considers data from iFixit to determine which smartphones are the easiest and hardest to repair at home, based on average repair times and the difficulty of online repair guide instructions.

Samsung’s Galaxy phones released in 2022 were found to be the easiest to repair; the Galaxy S22 Ultra ranked third in terms of DIY (Do It Yourself) repair ease, after the Galaxy A40 (2019) and the Moto G7 released the same year. The Galaxy A40, which is in second place, has an average repair time of 32.6 minutes, and 42.9% of its repairs are considered easy. The average repair time for the Galaxy S22 Ultra is 48.1 minutes, and a noteworthy 33.3% of these repairs can be done easily.

The verdict

Apart from that, the hardest smartphone to repair was the Google Pixel 7 (2022). Following this smartphone, which has an average home repair time of 60.3 minutes, is the Galaxy Note 10 model with an average repair time of 58.4 minutes. The third on the list is the 3rd generation iPhone SE. These phones were labeled as not suitable for DIY repair in the relevant study, considering their repair times and difficult-to-follow repair instructions.
